This is why we love mommoms house....

My mom is known for being quite silly.
I can recall as a kid, my sister and I
telling her often that she was weird.
Well this is another weird thing she does, my kids love when she squirts canned whipped cream in their mouths. It is rather funny, their little mouths open like carp awaiting their treat. James my son, even gagged a few times. Pretty disgusting but very funny at the same time.
Just what mommoms are for.

Robert Plant? Is that you?

Tiny Dancer

This was one of my dance outfits when I was three or four. She loved this, and walked with her head down while admiring herself!

Batman and the Kitty Cat

We went a birthday party a week ago, and the kids got their faces painted. I was amazed at how still they sat. Mostly staring at the lady painting their faces, and everyone staring at them. James now would like a permanent Batman emblem on his face. Since that is pretty much illegal for a 2 year old. I gave him a temporary tattoo today. Well, actually it was 3. One on his forehead, his nose and his cheek. Then about 3 more on his arm, one on his belly and one on his leg. So I guess that would make it 8.
I'll have to get a pic of that.

He's showing off his fireball here. He actually ate it. Once it started to get hot, I couldn't get him to take it out...he just kept saying "HOT"
Eventually he did take it out and it became a ball that he rolled all over the floor and got stuck under the couch numerous times.

James like Daddy

James is realizing that his dad has a particular style. Ok maybe its not a "style" its more like a typical outfit for daddy. While getting James dressed one day, in a black shirt and black boots, he looks down at himself and says, "James looks like Daddy!" I say you sure do! While going through some winter clothes, I found a leather jacket that was given to James, and couldn't resist this photo op.
Today at Target, while looking for my 1,000,871st pair of sunglasses. James spots a pair and puts them on, looks at himself in the mirror and says, "James looks like daddy!" Only this time I didn't agree with him he looked more like Elton John.

Don't drive me nuts today...its Christmas!

"Lets decorate today with the kids." Who said this?
Better yet, why did I say this? I was thinking it would be fun for them to see the house transform for Christmas time. Maybe they could help. What was I thinking? I remembered about 5 minutes into getting all the boxes out, that I had said specifically last year, that I would wait til the kids were napping to do this. I forgot.

As you can tell from the photos, they had fun, and were pretty darn cute too. I especially love the pic of Scarletts rump. I think she fell forward right before I took that. And she clearly does not look impressed that we're getting our Christmas tree out of a box. One day my darling little girl we will get a real tree. Merry Christmas.

I need...attention people!

This girl is learning what gets attention. Now it seems to me that she is abusing it. When she was just a bit younger she would cry and make these faces(pictured above) and I just assumed if her brother was sitting nearby, he was causing some harm to her. Not true. She will do this at the tiniest of reasons, or in fact, for no reason at all.

Photography by James

Once again, the talents of James are quite evident. Well, sort of.

Hulk, Bobofat, and a Ladybug.

We trick or treated this year at our friends, Davis and Sam's neighborhood. Such a great place, the whole neighborhood is out and decorated. What a bunch of cuties. Josh was BoboFat, a character from Star Wars, though his costume was about 10 sizes too small, he still wore it. I'll spare you those pictures. The kids had a blast. James would say "Trick-or-Treat", then "Thank you" which slowly started sounding like, "Bless you". (maybe bless you for having to look at my dad in this very, very tight costume.) Scarlett wound up taking off the ladybug costume and looked like a Silver Shoed Bandit. Happy Halloween!

I Love ROCK-n-ROLL!

James has a keen ear for music. Not just any type of music either.

While driving in the car a few days ago listening to the radio James calls out, "Mommy, Led Zeppelin." He was right. Its not hard to distinguish the squeal of Robert Plant. The very next day, a song that I haven't heard of theirs before comes on and he proudly says, "Led Zeppelin more Mommy." I was hesitant in telling him, yeah buddy you're right because I, in fact did not know. The announcer came on and proved James right, it was Led Zeppelin, singing GallowsPole.

I cannot take credit for his love of music totally. His dad, is oh, a BIG Lover of Rock-n-Roll. As a baby around 6 weeks old, Josh was watching James all alone, at one point James becomes inconsolable. Josh plugs in The Last Waltz, by Martin Scorsese a music documentary of The Band. And he was hooked. Thus becoming a bedtime routine for life. Even Ms. Scarlett loves The Band. Dancing and singing, even doing some amazing air guitar riffs.

Today we're at an outdoor playplace, which my sister-in-law calls 'the restaurant that shall remain nameless'. (McD) And this song comes on called Funkytown, by Lipps,Inc. James runs over to me and says "Funkytown mommy, by Shrek." I look puzzled for a minute, then quickly remember that this song is in the movie Shrek 2.

What a smart little man.

Edible Chick

This is my niece Jeorgia. And I want to gobble her up, she is after all, dressed up like a little chicken so it is okay. Seriously though, dinner anyone?

Love

I've always hoped and prayed that they would like each other. Just because he's washing her hair doesn't necessarily mean that they like each other, but it is a small step.

Earrings

This is my darling baby girl crying after getting her EARS PIERCED!! I've talked about this for awhile now and finally just did it. She did very well, and might I say looks so stinkin cute despite the tears and a little bit of anger on her face. Way to go you tough little girl.

yes, a miracle..

This is my Dad, also known as Poppa to his grandkids. On Wednesday October 15 he had brain surgery, hence all the things stuck to his shaved head and his rockin hospital gown and bracelet. What a long day that was. Even longer the weeks leading up to that day. He was just having headaches, had a MRI, and the Drs found a tumor. Probably some of the craziest news I've ever received. I felt like the wind was taken out of me and sort of tingly all over. No comparison to how he felt though.
What a fighter he is. Did I ever have any doubt...if we're realistic with ourselves, of course we do. This is my Dad, and seeing him so vulnerable was really hard for me. The surgery lasted about 7 hours, and my Dads tumor even broke a tool upon removal. Amazing recovery. Was able to leave the hospital on Sat. Just 3 days after the surgery.

Everyday is better and better. He's left with an amazing scar, a resemblance to Bruce Willis, and I'm sure a new outlook on life. Oh Dad we love you sooooo much don't you ever go scaring us like that again. But if you must, we're all there for you. Loving you every bit of the way. And praying like crazy too.

State Fair of Texas

You must go, really you must! I felt like a kid again. Maybe because I had my kids with me and we rode kiddie rides. And my SUPER FUN brother-in-law had us sampling some interesting fried things.
Here's just a few of the things we did:
posed as a sheep and a silly human

Drove a bumper car around and around in circles...

cuddled with MomMom

ate some ice cream like a pig, this pig weighs appx 1100 lbs...we did not eat as much as he does

Flew an airplane

Found a water fountain thanks to Uncle Blake....and our second wind!

But only for a little bit...sleep is sooooo good!

And ended the day in our underwear!

We really had a great time. Thanks mommom, Uncle Bake, Aunt Jack and Baby Jeorgia (dior-ga as James calls her). Let do it again!!!
